Made from 100% Merlot grown on our own 'Nindethana' vineyards. After picking, the grapes were crushed and feremented with full skin contact under controlled conditions. After run off, the skins were pressed in a basket press and then returned to the free run. The wine was aged in French oak barriques for 12 months prior to bottling. The wine shows light, fresh grassy characters on the nose and the front/middle palate, with the strength and full fruited persistence of the variety on the middle/end palate, giving the wine a long lingering finish that is definitely Merlot. The wine can be drunk now but will improve with a minimum ageing of 2 - 3 years. The wine has undergone minimum filtration and will throw a harmless deposit in the bottle. Should this be a problem, decant the wine before serving.
