Leveret is the term for a baby hare, which narrowly escapes being run over by the tractor is it hops from row to row in our Rowland Flat vineyard.Grown on heavy soils, these 8 year old vines, through careful management, have produced excellent fruit in a near perfect season. Vibarant deep purple hues with aromas of mulberry and plum abound. Traditional techniques of basket pressing and non filtration, along with maturation in various aged American, French and Hungarian oak hogsheads for 12 months, have encapsulated the voluptuous fruit flavours with spice, mint and chocolate. Most of the single vineyard Barossa Shiraz was bottled under screw cap to immortalise the magnificent flavours beyond the life span of cork. This wine is enjoyable now, but will handsomely reward 3 to 10 years bottle maturation. This is a treat for Shiraz lovers like myself who enjoy bold soft flavoured wine. It is great to know this wine will be fresh not 'corked' when you open it. - Mike |
